International Aid Transparency Initative (IATI)

On the 3rd of July a regional consultation on improving the transparency of development assistance was held in Brussels. At the invitation of International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) a representative of Ekvilib Institute also attended. IATI is an initiative that was set up at high forum in Accra in September 2008. Its key objective is to improve transparency and access to information on major flows of development assistance and activities related to them. It involves donors, representatives of developing countries and civil society organizations with intention of establishing common standards, which will be based on existing ones.

Consultation was the first in line of the planned regional consultations with civil society organizations working in the field of development aid effectiveness. In the coming months consultations with representatives of NGOs will be held in other regions of the world, including in Africa and Latin America.
