International seminar of official development aid monitoring, Aidwatch

Concord working group for audit and monitoring of official development aid organized a traditional Aidwatch seminar in Brussels. Concord is the European NGO Confederation for Relief and Development.


As head of working group for monitoring of the official development aid at Sloga and director of Ekvilib Institute, Aleš Kranjc Kušlan also participated at the seminar. The main subject of the Aidwatch seminar was official development aid from the perspective of the economic crises, concern of decreasing budget in the future, danger of new EU concepts (Whole of Union, ODA+, environmental protection, etc.), potentially decreasing budgets of the main goal of the official development aid - which is reduction of poverty in the developing countries. One of the main emphasis was also correlation between quality and quantity of the official development aid and reaching millennium goals. Aleš Kranjc Kušlan also proposed a higher emphasis of human rights in official development aid and its monitoring.

In the scope of the seminar there was an advocacy group also established, where Aleš Kranjc Kušlan will represent Slovenian platform Sloga.
