At the EU level there is a number of institutions that deals with the corporate social responsibility (of enterprises) and whose job is to formalize and systematise of the concept at international level.
Initial attempts of the systematization of the social responsibility (of the enterprises) are seen in the Lisbon Strategy (2000/2005), that would like to reinforce so called welfare state, which offers opportunities and rights for all its citizens and can be a beacon of economic, social and environmental progress, but in particular, it is based on long-term, sustainable development.
Also in 2001 the European Commission presented so called Green Paper to promote European policies on corporate social responsibility and it's view of the concept.
