Youth for Human Rights: against discrimination

Ekvilib Institute is planning a training in the field of antidiscrimination for youth workers and young leaders YOUTH FOR HUMAN RIGHTS: Against Discrimination.

The comprehensive training is intended for youth workers from five countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia and is aimed at knowledge and good practice exchange among youth workers and experts who are active in the field of anti-discrimination. The training will be held from 6th – 11th December 2011 in Ljubljana and will address various topics concerning discrimination, among others discrimination based on ethnicity and religion, the role of media in discrimination, volunteering and active citizenship for anti-discrimination, etc. The training will focus both on content as well as methodological approaches in the work with youth in this field and will equip the participants with in-depth knowledge as well as practical skills which they will be able to apply in their further work with youth. Lecturers at the training will be experts from all participating countries with experience and profound knowledge in the field.

The main findings of the training will be included in a manual, which will serve to the participants of the training as well as to the broader public as guidelines for their future work with youth in the field of anti-discrimination. Within the training, a round table will also be organized where the invited guests will discuss the major issues and challenges concerning youth work in the field of antidiscrimination.

Project coordinator is Ekvilib Institute, Slovenia, partners in the project are members of the network YIHR: YIHR Bosnia in Hercegovina, YIHR Montenegro, YIHR Kosovo and YIHR Serbia.

APPLICATIONS: NEW INTENSIVE COURSES

We are collecting applications for intensive training courses

In April 2012 we will start organizing intensive educational programs from the fields of Theatre of the Oppressed, Documentary photography and Documentary film. All programs are free of charge.

We invite everyone to take part in the courses who would like to gain or upgrade their existing knowledge in the selected fields and would at the same time like to – through the use of art – expose social issues which are important to them. The courses are open for everyone, however priority in selection will be given to members of different ethnic minority groups, national minorities and migrants. Everyone who speaks English or Slovene can apply for the training. The language of the training will be decided afterwards taking into account the prevailing language knowledge of the participants. If necessary, simultaneous interpretation will be organized.

The participants will be offered different types of support, among other things they will be able to borrow equipment, they will have access to the digital dark room, some will be awarded grants for future development of their projects, participating in festivals and meetings, and accommodation.
