Ekvilib

Photo contest

Ekvilib Institute is launching a new initiative "Global World: Through the Lens of Human Rights", which promotes socially responsible use of photography as a tool for protecting and promoting human rights, and expressing a critical outlook on global social developments and processes.
The central part of the initiative is a collection of photos, which will be complemented through each year’s photography contest focusing on different aspects of human rights in the context of global development efforts. The emphasis is laid on documentary photos, which encourage contemplation and debate, have the power of political and social mobilization and advance a critical reflection on global development efforts. The photos should avoid sensationalism, present the actual situation and show respect for the subject, as well as the viewer. In addition to this, depiction of the countries, the inhabitants and their life stories should be conveyed in a non-discriminatory and non-stereotypical way, aspiring to portray and understand the causes of human rights violations and development challenges.
The initiative is open to professional photographers and other interested individuals, who share the vision and passion to contribute to a more just and balanced global development, and to a socially responsible representation of global development challenges.
