Background:
Every third Moldovan child is separated from one or both parents because of migration for periods up to 7 years. According to the data provided by the Ministry of Education and Youth on September 1, 2008, were registered 33000 children of school age left without the care of both parents, and not less than 77000 children with a parent abroad. In the same time, reports from different NGOs and researches in the field, as well as reports from teachers involved in CRIC projects state these figures are, at least, 3 times bigger. Without parents’ support children encounter many problems related to their development and become vulnerable to various emotional and social risks.
