Final conference:

„Psycho-pedagogical and social assistance of children left behind: achievements and future perspectives”

Child Rights Information Centre Moldova (CRIC) and Ekviib Inštitut invite you to attend national conference „Psycho-pedagogical and social assistance of children left behind: achievements and future perspectives”.

In the context of the implementation of the National Action Plan on the protection of children left behind, the conference aims at discussing different experiences to support children left behind and to analyze the perspectives and opportunities to enhance the interventions at school and community level for a better management of migration consequences.

Specialists from the central and local authorities, professionals working with children and families, as well as representatives of international and nongovernmental organizations are invited to the event.

The conference will take place on 23rd September 2011, starting with 09.30, at Institutul Muncii, 10, Zimbrului str. in Moldova. (Agenda is attached.)

The event is organized in the framework of the project “School for life: empowerment of children left behind by migrating parents in Moldova”, implemented by CRIC in collaboration with Ekvilib Institute Slovenia and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova, with the financial support of the Government of Slovenia.

Drama clubs coordinators from 3 districts will use Social Theater in their work

26 coordinators of drama clubs from Orhei, Telenesti and Falesti districts in Moldavia participated in the training "Social Theater Techniques for organizing leisure time activities for children", organized by the Labor Institute (Chisinau) from 21-24 March 2011. The training aimed to contribute to capacity building of drama clubs coordinators who will now be able to use methods of social theater to facilitate the participation of children and members of communities and contribute to their social integration.

Participants addressed topics related to discrimination and social inclusion of children, they learned about the principles and rules of theater for social change and theater forum, explored their own creativity in developing social theater scenes and developed empathy and expression through body language skills.

Theater techniques for achieving social change will help clubs coordinators to encourage children’s involvement in extracurricular activities, to develop activities based on the specific needs of children and to adopt a constructive approach to solving the problems the children face.

Study visit of CRIC representatives in Slovenia

In November 2010, representatives of partner organisation CRIC from Moldova were on a study visit in Slovenia. They met with representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and two of their representatives attended the training in theatre techniques: Theatre of the Oppressed with a global dimension.

On 3rd of November 2010, a representative of CRIC participated in the International school on project management: Human Rights in Development organized by Ekvilib Institute in Ljubljana. Mr. Gavriliuc presented the project to the participants in the training course and discussed challenges and opportunities to apply child rights based approaches in the CRIC projects.

Training: Child Rights based Approaches & Child Rights based Programming

Between 9th and 11th June 2010 in Moldova, Ekvilib Institute in cooperation with the partner organization Child Rights Information Centre under the project "School for Life: Empowerment of Children left behind by migrating parents in Moldova” organized a three-day training seminar on Child Rights based Approaches & Child Rights based Programming. Training was conducted by Ekvilib Institute’s colleague Anita Ramšak, and was attended by numerous representatives of Moldovan organizations working in the field of child / children's rights, including the entire staff of the partner organization Child Rights Information Centre, "Prietenii Copiilor" Association, the National Youth Resource Center, CCF Moldova, Children, Communities, Families, Alliance of Active NGOs for Social Protection, Child and Family...

National action plan for children left behind by migrating parents

0n 19 May 2010 the first meeting of a governmental commission for the issue of children left behind was held. CRIC managed to advocate and be included as a member of the commission. During the first meeting Cezar Gavriliuc, CRIC president, presented the situation of children left behind and made recommendations for the governmental structures. Recommendations presented within the meeting were included in the a National Plan of Action for children without parental care action plan, in which CRIC has become one of the partners in the implementation of the action plan.
