Time for Women's rights and Gender Equality in Montenegro
Between May 2014 and September 2016 we implemented a 3-year project in the field of women’s rights and gender equality in Montenegro in cooperation with Montenegrin organisation Public Policy Institute.
Project Goals
Overall Objective: Increased visibility of the issue of gender inequality and women’s rights among the public and political actors in Montenegro
Specific Objectives:
- Established system of experts able to carry out trainings and consultancy in the field of gender equality and women’s rights.
- Integration of the issue of gender (in)equality and women’s rights in the public discourse.
Development of professional basis for the politicians and relevant officials to make systematic improvements in the field of gender inequality and women’s rights in Montenegro.
Key Activities:
- Establishment of a system of experts in the field of gender equality and women’s rights and organization of international and local trainings.
- Organization of awarness raising events on the topics of gender inequality and women’s rights (round tables, public debates, lectures, a regional conference).
- Work with the journalists (workshop, development of guidelines for the journalists).
- Preparation of a study of best practices and current state of implementation of UN Security Council of the United Nations RS 1325 (Women, Peace and Security) in the Western Balkans and drafting the National Action Plan for Montenegro.
- Advocacy and promotional activities for the adoption of the National Action Plan R 1325.
